After the Party

Thanks, neighbors, for organizing, working, feeding, providing, and otherwise making the 2009 block party happen!

Responses have been positive, so congratulations to those who got this idea off the ground!

The blog will continue to be available, so please feel free to use it for comments of interest to the Miles Farm Neighborhood.

Block Party Update

Hello, Neighbors!

The block party is next Saturday, 7/18/2009, at 2 p.m.! Over a dozen families are planning to join the fun!

Two families are providing burgers, hot dogs and chicken, (THANK YOU!) so others are invited to bring side dishes and desserts. Bring a chair and your own beverage, and settle in for a great afternoon to meet neighbors, swap stories, and relax.

For everyone's convenience, we plan to rent a portable comfort station (to put it politely) that will be set up near the end of Wilson Road. Those who can offer a donation to cover that cost are encouraged to do so (please refer to the contact information on the printed flyer). We would also like to rent a kids' bounce-house if we can, so let us know if you can help.

The weather forecast for the 18th predicts highs in the mid 70's, with clouds. Although it is not expected to be extremely hot, we still want to have as much ice as we can get, for drinks and - even - if all goes well - Snow Cones!

Please post comments here, or talk to Sue, Shelley or Raye.

Everyone involved is looking forward to a great party! See you there!

BTW - If you just can't decide, or your schedule is unpredictable, please join us if the opportunity arises, even if it's a short visit. We would love to have as many neighbors meet and greet as possible.

First Post

Greetings, friends and neighbors!  We have changed the date!  Read on . . .

This project grew out of a desire to help the neighbors of Harpin, Upson, Newsom, Wilson and Hollis to stay in touch.

It is also, we hope, going to help us coordinate our 2009 Block Party!  As of 6/1/2009, it is scheduled to take place on 7/18/2009.  Time is 2 p.m. till . . . probably just a bit after dark.

As plans unfold, details will be posted to the blog.  Comments can be posted to let us know who can help with some of the materials and logistics, so that we can make this an enjoyable opportunity to spend a little time with the neighbors!
